Taking Responsibility and Control
Product Code: CS 9801
Corrections students often feel their situation is hopeless. Hopelessness and the accompanying depression stems from the perception that they have no control. The Taking Responsibility and Control workbook can help turn that situation around.

Inmate students will find they have new power and freedom the minute they exercise self-control and take responsibility for their attitudes and actions. Taking Responsibility and Control shows inmates that even in the confines of a correctional facility, they can take control of their lives. It explains how they can gain from their efforts. Students are shown specific ways to change and are challenged to begin to take responsibility and control, regardless of their past or present situation. This is a must read book to facilitate successful reentry into the community after incarceration. Because it is a significant problem for many students, there is a special section on gaining control of anger.

  3. Emotional
  4. Social
  5. Spiritual

Developing Your Values
Product Code: CS 9806
Many corrrections education students are incarcerated because their values are not in line with those society accepts. Those values were often learned from past authorty figures and peers who fostered dishonesty, immediate gratification, prejudice and bias. Those attitudes did not serve corrections education students well before they were arrested and they continue to produce negative results during incarceration and when they reenter the community.

When corrections education students improve their values, they improve their odds for success both during incarceration and after reentry.

Developing Your Values explains why and how principles, standards of behavior, and laws are formed. After looking at religious and social sources of values, corrections education students learn advantages and reasons for choosing positive behaviors. Personal standards of good conduct and alternatives to bad social behaviors are described.

Developing Your Values discusses cults, gangs, prejudice, sexual, and racial discrimination so corrections education students understand their inherent dangers. The workbook also discusses guilt, avoiding excessive guilt, and working through guilt feelings. Developing Your Values introduces corrections education students to the positive benefits of successful living through honesty, impulse control, and empathy.
